Malmaison Hotel Manchester Review
As you walk into the Malmaison Manchester you are instantly transported to a peaceful haven right in the heart of the cosmopolitan city. Situated only a few minutes’ walk from Manchester Piccadilly Station, it truly is a beautiful hotel in a buzzing city.
Malmaison Manchester was transformed from an elegant 19th-century warehouse, making it one of the most stylish boutique hotels in Manchester city centre. It is the perfect location for those inner-city business trips or a city escape. This beautiful, chic hotel has 167 luxury rooms and 13 suites and is perfect if you’re looking for a luxury short city break in the UK.
I was greeted by a lovely receptionist called Hannah, who checked me in and gave me more information about the hotel and its facilities.
A Luxury Hotel in the heart of Manchester
DOUBLE EXECUTIVE ROOM
My beautiful executive double room boasted a king-sized bed, Smart LCD TV, and en-suite shower over bath. There was a lovely snacks and refreshments tray of wine, chocolate, fruit, and nuts (which was very tempting, but I managed to resist!).
The en-suite had an art deco feel about it with the black and white tiles, it also had some shower gel, shampoo, and soap with quirky messages on “Better shower gel than you have at home” and “The best shampoo you will ever steal” – which I thought was a nice way to say these were complimentary.
- Free WIFI
- Smart Screen LCD TV
- Ironing Board
- Same-Day Laundry
- Coffee & Tea tray with complimentary biscuits
- 24hr Room Service
- Well stocked Mini Bar including wine, beer, soft drinks and mineral water
DINNER AT CHEZ MAL BRASSERIE
After a session at Gymtonic, I was looking forward to dinner at Chez Mal Brasserie, located on the ground floor and is the heart of the hotel. We were greeted by the Restaurant Manager who already knew my name and seated us at our table overlooking the hustle and bustle of the city.
We decided to order from the A La Carte Menu, for my starter I had an amazing Tempura of courgette, calamari & tiger prawns, chilli jam & crème fraiche - which was delicious. For my main, I chose the Chez Mal Burger – which again was delicious and very filling.
The other half chose the Yorkshire Dales lamb shank, which was also delicious, and I quote, “the lamb just fell off the bone” – so, a happy customer. We were too full to even contemplate dessert, however, we chose to have an extra glass of wine instead.

BREAKFAST AT CHEZ MAL BRASSERIE
The breakfast at Chez Mal had a great variety of cereals, fruits, juices, and pastries. There were also cooked options available from the full fry up to scrambled eggs on toast. I chose the Smoked Salmon & Creamy Scrambled Eggs which was amazing along with a Cappuccino. The waiting staff were very attentive and professional, yet the atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable.

A Perfect Spa Break in Manchester
After a great night’s sleep, I was ready for some pampering, I had already decided which treatment I was having from the spa brochure which was sent to me by the Spa Manager a few days before me checking in.
I went for the Espa Facial, I felt it was time to start looking after my skin, due to turning 34 the previous week. I found the Malmaison Spa perfectly located in the basement, almost like a secret Hideaway from all the stresses of the city. As soon as I entered the spa I felt relaxed, due to the soothing music and peaceful atmosphere.
I was greeted by Ella the Head Technician, who was very welcoming and gave me a mini-tour of the spa. After a quick filling out of the consultation form, I was ready for my treatment. Ella took me to my very own treatment room which was beautifully decorated and had relaxing music playing as we entered. Malmaison Spa is the perfect venue for a luxury spa break.
ESPA SPECIFIC FACIAL
The facial started off with a detailed consultation, along with an in-depth skin analysis using technology to identify skin conditions not visible to the naked eye. Ella started off by asking me what the key areas where I wanted to concentrate on, such as anti-aging, dry or oily skins etc as this enabled Ella to tailor the treatment for my skin. My facial included cleansing, exfoliating and a treatment specific massage and mask.
Finally, skincare products are chosen for your individual needs to achieve the best possible results. My facial lasted for one hour and at the end of it I felt amazingly refreshed and relaxed.
